Illustration Friday: ALONE

Alone. Pen on paper/Digital.

It's so weird but this is how I've always felt whenever I am sad or depressed. When I drew this, I felt alone... as if I were kept in a glass case and trapped to meet my demise.

The girl in my illustration is trapped in the whirlpool of her emotions. She is sad and feels caged in her misery.

Laws of the Lift

Laws of the Lift. Ink on Paper

An illustration I made for an article called "The Laws of the Lift" (Newsmill, Jan-March 2005 issue).

When it came out, I was so excited. It was my first published illustration. Despite its limited circulation (it was for our company newsletter), I was so happy that I finally got the nerve to show people my "artworks". :) I felt even happier when some of my colleagues told me how much they appreciate my work. (It sure felt like being in cloud nine!)

Balete

Balete. Digital.

This tree is really spooky at night. In the Philippines, especially at the provinces, horror stories of white ladies and restless souls are associated with this tree (the stories are common during halloween).

Well, I drew this tree for fun. I made the whole thing on MS Paint. Now, when I look back, I can't believe that I made this using a touch pad... Well, the pain and burning sensation on my fingers was worth it. :)

Illustration Friday: TRAVEL

Man on the brick road by the hill (mixed media)

When I first made this (using a marker pen on an white card board), I had no idea that it would later introduce me to the world of "paint buckets" and help me in exploring Adobe Photoshop. Surprise, surprise! :) This is sort of my "prototype" for digital art experimentation... :)

A Happy Place in Pasig

An Maogmang Lugar sa Pasig

This is a "rough picture" of my second home in Metro Manila. I like the place so much because it is where I meet and chat with my college buddies. It is also a place which reminds me so much of my birthplace: Naga City. This is why I thought it fitting to call the picture "An Maogmang Lugar sa Pasig" (which adapts Naga's slogan in Bikol, meaning, "A Happy Place").
